AF160FC ring flash

I recentlyl purchased the AF160FC to replace my AF080C. It's a keeper. It's caused me to switch Macro lenses but I'm happy with the results.
Previously I generally used a 50mm macro because it was easier to get the exposure where I wanted it, and if you got to disanct the 080 ran out of horsepower. the 160 has pretty much inspired me to mostly use the FA100 Macro. the latter is more convenient for many things because
you can get a bit further away from your subject. That is a big help when you are trying to shoot a spider in his web as in the photo that follows.

Looks great,

I just picked up the AF 080C and like it a lot. I suspect I would like your model even more.

well, the power and flash automation are the main differences, and the flash automation isn't all that great. It's very hard for something
as stupid as flash automation to know what you want exposed correctly, in the context of macro photography. After all the insect in the foreground
is not the dominant feature in the frame---just what I wanted to feature.

I'd like to know how these perform in non-macro situations, ie general use for portraiture and event photography... What light range you could get from it.

Im assuming its no good to syncronise with my AF540GZ flashes on remote triggers, though unsure whether the sigma is compatible in this regard anyway.
Yeah, I like mucking around with lighting
