If you're looking for a video light, I agree that strapping a good flashlight on your camera would most likely do better. I have a friend who does video and she uses something like this that works quite well:

However, if you are looking for a
flash I'd say it depends on what you're doing. For a good, full-featured P-TTL flash I'd have to suggest the Bell & Howell Z680AF-P which is what I shoot with normally. That is if you're wanting to keep your costs low.
