It might not be too late, depending on where you bought it. I bought one from B&H right before it went on sale and was able to give them a call and they refunded me the $25 difference.

Here are a couple of shots from my first outing with the Metz 50 AF-1.
These are straight out of the camera jpegs, no crop or color correction.

I am pretty happy with what a got with no practice.

Wow! awesome shots! I like that you were able to catch kids running around even with poor lighting. I know now what to get myself for christmas. ohh have you tried it on burst mode?

how is this compared to sigma 610 super ?

I can't say directly if it is better than the Sigma 610 super, since I don't have a 610 for comparison, but I know if you search the forums you will find many happy Metz 50 owners.

I just figured for 199 I would have enough money to buy a set of cactus v5 triggers (not having commander mode won't be a problem) and be at the same price as the 610 super.

Maybe someone with a Sigma 610 super and comment

If you've run a search on the forums, you've seen K-5 + Metz 50 over exposure problems, esp. with bounce.....here's what worked for me so far:

Well, my Metz 50 arrived and, lo and behold, I was having the reported over-exposure problems with bounce! I downloaded the latest K-5 firmware v1.11 (I had v1.03) and the latest Metz 50 firmware v2.0, and LIKE MAGIC my exposures look really good with FEV dialed down just a touch. I'll keep playing with it, but the results look very good - especially compared to yesterday!

I am wondering why the price of the Metz 50 hasn't dropped yet in Europe

I would have bought it from BH but I am afraid of the customs. Hope the price will drop here too, soon!
