Metz 50 AF-1 - On Sale 199.99

B&h just dropped the price on the Metz 50 AF-1 to 199.99 with a mini softbox, bounce diffuser and free shipping. I just pulled the trigger after going back and forth between the Metz 50 and the SIgma 610 super. Now I just have to sit and wait to Thursday to try it out.

Been waiting to buy a flash and this was my first choice anyway - great timing! BTW, not sure what is going on, but it did show out of stock, but by accessing the site via a Google search it showed in stock and I was able to order it. (And, yes, for the skeptics, it is the Pentax and includes the same extras!)

Now, let's see if it shows up on Friday as scheduled.

Just wanted to point it out before somebody blindly ordered a Nikon for their Pentax.

Thx for this thread - Santa has graciously ordered one for me

. Can't wait to start climbing the learning curve! Guess I should get the latest K-5 firmware on my camera before the flash arrives....

Well I was pretty happy with my first attempt using the Metz 50.

I got to my niece's play late Friday (so no time to practice with the flash, she was already 3/4 of the way done when I walked in the door) so I didn't get to try to take shots while she was on stage, but I did get some pretty good family photos after the play.

The light in the class room is really tough, it is a mix warm fluorescent, day light fluorescent, and incandescent. So I have had white balance trouble trying to take pictures here before. This was my first attempt at using p-ttl (other than the pop up flash). All I did was pull out the flash pop in some batteries and started shooting (mostly bounced off the ceiling switching between av and tv mode).

So with no practice I think I did alright.

When I get home I will post a couple of my pictures

That'll be awesome if you can post some pics! I'm really thinking of getting one, or should I skip this and get the 58? I'm no pro and not planning to be one, just an enthusiast.
