Anyone used Cactus AF50 P-TTL flash?

Really cheap P-TTL flashgun...

Cactus AF50 P-TTL Camera Flash / Speedlite for Pentax - Gadget Infinity

Anyone tried it?

Can't find any reviews...

I use manual flashes (cause they be cheap) and do most of my flash stuff off-camera... But for the price (half the price of the Metz48 in the UK) I'd be willing to give this P-TTL flash a punt if it's any cop...

I haven't seen one up here in the Great White North but this guy tested a Nikon version and was quite happy with it. I'd be willing to buy one just based on the price and the wireless P-TTL. Since I already have a pair of flash (Pentax AF200 and Sunpak 5504G potato masher) that don't get used enough, I won't be getting it.

I bought one during christmas, still waiting for shipping.
I was looking for my first flash. It was metz between af50, sigma 610 super and the cactus flash. I chose this one because it has the most feature for the lowest price, the size/weight is also a big factor in my decision.

Look forward to your review!
Really want to know about build quality and consistancy of exposure (direct and bounce, in P-TTL and 'M'mode), recycle time and all that other good stuff!

I've been asking questions of a guy who review'd the Nikon version...

Cactus AF 50 he says at 1/1 (full power) he's getting recycle times of 8 seconds.... That seems fairly slow... Is it really that slow?

I'm using fresh charged eneloops, it takes ~3-4 seconds

I'd say that's fairly acceptable for a hotshoe flash...

Exposing correctly in PTTL?

Also interested in your experience. I upgraded from a K10d to a K-5, and now my pttl is actually useful with my Pentax 360 flash. Not having swivel is a killer though.

I looked at the back of the flash, and it looks like my Vivitar df-383.
If so, then it's probably manufactured by Sakar.
Hope this helps!

That's great man!

Thank you!!

Would it be possible for you to copy into the pentaxforums.accessoryreviewscategory-Flashes-Third-party for other PF-members to see?

A great first review though I reckon!

Rep added!

Thanks for that Azzy. Your Canadian roots are showing with a picture of Neilson milk, and being politically correct you're even showing the French side

I (another Canadian) ordered this flash last week, so I was very interested in your review. I'm hoping mine comes in soon. It will be going on a Pentax K-x.

I'm going to have to wait a month or two now as I bought a new lens... (still have my manual flashes though...)
If you could do a review for the accessories database too that'd be great for other PF-users!
