How do I find out voltage on a flash unit?

I am trying to buy PT-04 receiver/transmitter. It has a list of compatible flashes and a statement - also used for any flash with 12 W or lower. I have a Mecablitz 44 (not on the list of course). I cannot find voltage. I looked in the manual, on the box, on the flash, no info whatsoever... Does anybody know if Mecablitz is 12 W or lower? Has anybody used PT -04 with this flash. and while we are on the subject, what is a NPT and how does it compare to PT?
Thank you very much for your time
Kristine

I copied and pasted your thread title into Google search and found this on the first results

Secrets of Powershot Flash Photography

Scroll down to "How to Check the Trigger Voltage" section.

Cool eh? Remember to always search on Google first before posting questions.

If it is safe on your body, it will be safe on the trigger. Metz 44 is made for Pentax DSLR bodies, so it is a non-issue.

Licking is not always needed, I have a Vivitar that will give you a pretty good shock if you manage to touch the ground and center pin at the same time with your fingers. I think the trigger voltage is around 300 volts. Not fun to be shocked and blinded at the same time.
