Specifically, do they sync at 180 properly?

Thanks!

The better RF-602 triggers do not. They sync consistantly at 1/125, sometimes a touch faster.

My PT-04NE works fine at 1/180s (the package boasts up to 1/250s). Build quality / feel a bit on the El Cheapo side, but then so is the price .

That's good. What camera are you using?

K-5 (worked fine with the K-x as well ). (From a Chinese Ebay seller for about $25 (if memory serves) for a 1 transmitter + 2 receivers kit, postage included, took a while to get here though )

YN04II's were my first set of flash triggers....

They sync'd fine but didn't like being outside too much - indoors they were ok...

My girlfriend now uses them on her HS10 (fuji) and the misfire like crazy!!

Too be honest, I'd pay a little more and get some 'Cactus V5's' or even the older V4's which is what I use now, both are significantly better... Google 'Gadget Infinity'...

The Cactus V5 look like they'd be worth the premium (Cactus Cactus V5 Duo reviews - Pentax Camera Accessories: Database and Reviews).

Yes they do... Hmmm... Problem is, I also need to buy at least one decent strobe as well... On the other hand, I just lugged all my gear out to test out a location, and realised that I only had a DA lens with me, and so I wasn't able to trigger my Af280T using the onboard flash as a commander... Wasted trip...

Well, otoh, the PT-04s while not as nice as the Cactus are inexpensive, available and do work (or mine do, at least ).

Yep... You need to go direct to Gadget Infinity... This acually works out quite well if you have any issues with product (which I have not with V4's) as you skip middlemen...

Oh they work... But they don't work great...
I had to change the batteries upon arrival... They never liked working outside...

The V4's use AAA's (I use AAA-Eneloops) which are easier to get hold of... And outside they work without issue...

Given the price I wouldn't be surprised with QC and/or durability issues with the PT-04s (I seem to recall having reliability problems initially, scrubbed the contacts a bit and it would seem that mine have worked reliably since for a year or so, in nice indoor conditions though (YMMV). Again, I wouldn't be suprised if the contact material is prone to getting oxidized (as in not being gold-plated or anything ).

Hey, thanks for the useful advice! Whereabouts are you in Yorkshire? My partner's family are from up that way...

I like your recent portait shots too, I've been trying that look - half the face, lit from the side... I'd be very flattered to find out that gave you the idea, although that does sound a bit cocky...

Sounds like it's wait a bit and get the Cactus for me then.

Cheers... My housemates are pretty good about me practicing on them in the livingroom (which is where my flashstand and backdrop frame currently live)...

I'm a Bradford lad... Gave up my house 4 years ago to go to uni (only 10 years late)... Finish in April (BA-English Literature) have the house til July but most likely moving into my girlfriend's house with her and the boy in May...
