Thanks for all the photos enoeske - it's great to see real life images of the flash in action!

Sure looks like a great value - I've been waiting for this one to be available with the LCD screen - looks like it is so easy to read and operate.

Technically, nothing else. But that depends on how and where you shoot. In S2 mode, the yn-560ii will ignore the ttl preflash from the camera and fire during the exposure. However, this doesn't work as well outdoors where the bright sunlight can overpower the sensor and not allow it to "see" the pre-flashes. Indoors, there shouldn't be any problem with the optical triggering.

Some cheap radio triggers like Cactus v5 are a reliable way to getting off camera for cheap and not be limited by line of sight and optical sensor luck. You can grab 1 for every flash you have, or get 1 and set all the others to optical slave mode. Then you dont' have to use the on camera flash to trigger any of them.

Thank you so much. Also I'm guessing that the cactus v5 are the cheapest most reliable triggers out there?

And I guess If I get myself 2 yn560 and 2 cactus v5 I'm going to be all good to go (: Or maybe I should just experiment with one each first hmmm.

Thank you so much.
BTW are there any good books on flash photography that you would suggest to a newbie like me?

I'd say the cactus' are the best starters. I have v4's and they work pretty good. The v5's are supposed to be even better.

For starters, I'd say getting the flashes and maybe a stand and umbrella -- then go through David Hobby's Strobist 101 and 102 at Strobist.com while doing the exercises like its a class would be a tremendous help. Thats how I learned. and practice, lots of practice.

Had a lot of fun this evening. It's a simple, well made, easy to use. My only frustration this evening was the amount of misfires I got from my PC sync cord. I am going to buy some Cactus v5s first chance I get.

Me too. That's what I'm doing.

I highly recommend this set of flash modifiers if anything before you get the stand and umbrella.

Edit: Review up here.

I appreciate your explaining how the optical slave works - I didn't realize this flash had that capability.

So with that said, I like the idea of first purchasing 1 cactus v5 set ( one pair) and still be able to use 2 YN560II's at the same time.

Hey guys, where did you order your YN-560 II? Was it from their ebay store? eBay My World - hkyongnuophotoequipment or via amazon? Thanks a lot.

I had no idea a new version was being released. The LCD looks like a nice improvement, but not as useful as the low-battery indicator. That case is much better than the felt bag that comes with the version I too.

I think I'll stick with my version 1, I have my eye on something with PTTL if I want to upgrade my flash.
