Thoughts?
It depends on what you want to do, if you're taking shots where there is no setup time allowed, constantly changing ambient lighting and no chance for a second shot, then it would be a very bad flash. If you're wanting to do more creative things with light and are able and willing to experiment and tweak the setup, then it would be a very good flash. The Yongnuo offers very fine manual control over the flash power, much more control than the manual modes usually found in P-TTL capable flashes.

If you aren't sure what you want, picking up a P-TTL flash is probably best and maybe getting one of these Yongnuos as a second flash.

My YN 560 II arrived today as a 2nd flash to my Cactus AF50 and after a couple of hours of usage I'm liking it alot!
The build quality feels better, the icons on the screen are larger and better lit and best of all...I don't have to cycle through all the settings to get to the one I want!
Recycle rate is pretty fast with eneloops too. I'm pretty sure this is gonna be my new primary flash as I really appreciate the fine manual control over the flash power.

If you are looking to learn about using a flash and can make do WITHOUT P-TTL and HSS I do believe this is one of the best manual flashes you can get.

Hi everybody,

I saw that the YN 560 II have a multi mode ! Does this "multi" mode work with pentax ?
I read it works with Nikon's camera but not with Canon's camera, what about pentax ?

Multi mode I think shoots a succession of very quick flashes so you get the effect of several different shots in one frame. For capturing motion - think hummingbird's wings or a ball moving across the frame. Works fine with Pentax. It's not the same as High Speed Sync.

Comes with omnibounce diffuser
I just got a new one of these, had to send it back because it was defective, it was definitely new in the box, but it didn't come with any kind of omnibounce diffuser in the box.

No. You control that from your camera, so it is not flash-dependant.

I dont think they come with a diffuser, I have a I and II, nether came with diffures, the II just came with a nicer case. They are supposedly built exactly like a canon 580 so you could find one for a canon

I have no idea what you mean...

Edit: OK, now I do see...

The answer to your question is no. You really need to go and read up on basic flash techniques.

Mine had a diffuser but it had been shoved in with the packaging, it wasn't in the flash's box. I had the distinct impression the vendor had added it as a bonus.

You have revived an old thread from last year. The Yongnuo YN-560 II is a fully manual flash and can be used on camera, but you will have to calculate the shooting aperture based on guide number and subject distance. Another alternative is to use a hand-held flash meter. You can do better, price-wise on Amazon.

You might be better served by an auto-thyristor flash having its own light sensor or any of the Pentax or third-party flashes offering P-TTL support for your camera.
