AF400T repair

Quite some time ago my potato masher style flash, the Pentax AF400T, broke. The battery compartment broke off, as per pictures below. I once glued it back on, and it still worked, but the construction requires something stronger to hold.

Any ideas what I could do with this? It is a bulky flash, more so than the Af500 and AF540, but also versatile and powerful. I probably could use a battery, but I don't do weddings, so do not need a black crash box.

Maybe just contact Pentax and see if they still have some old parts lying around. You never know.

I had to lok again (it was so long ago) and found that actually, the battery chamber is OK, it is the part to which it attaches that has come off. So I suspect spares won't work, as it is the bottom of the main shaft that goes all the way up.
Screws, I'm not sure. How deep can I go? And how do I get a screw into this pretty hard plastic? But perhaps that is an idea (if I reconnect the loose wires first).

pre drill (to the size of the inside of the thread), you can find short thick screws, it will just a matter of hunting around for something that you think will do the job.
