Okay, I've previously posted that I have managed to use a Seagull SYK-5 optical slave to trigger a non-P-TTL flash off-camera within an otherwise all P-TTL environment. This flash has a variable delay switch intended to wait until anti-red-eye pre-flashes have finished and the shutter is open before discharging the attached flash. At its shortest time setting, it works perfectly with my K-r and an older Vivitar 5500FD flash, triggered by the K-r's built-in flash, both alone or in conjunction with a Sigma EF-DG610 Super in wireless P-TTL slave mode. Be forewarned that I have no idea if it will work with YOUR Pentax dSLR and YOUR flash.
One complaint about the Seagull line is that the instructions are frequently only available in Chinese. I have not found a western language translation for the SYK-5 instructions online. Living in a university town with a large international student body, I am fortunate to know somebody who frequently works with Chinese graduate students. As a favor I have obtained a rough translation of the SYK-5 instructions into English. This is not a complete translation of the entire document, just the instructions, and it is entirely possible a professional translator might complain about the accuracy. Still, it suits my needs, and may suit yours.
