Metz 58 Af-2 vs. 48 AF-1

Due to stupid negligence I lost my Metz 48 in an event I covered a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of getting a new Metz and I saw a local store selling one for less than Php 20,000 (USD476.19).

To those who have used either or both flashes, do you think it's worth the upgrade cost? The 58 AF-2 is around 1.5x the price of a 48AF-1 here...

Depends on the need. For me the extra power and the fact that it can be used in 'automatic mode' are basically enough reason to choose the 58 over the 48.

If I was paid for the shoots, there would be no question; get the best. I'm an amateur / hobbyist, so will probably scratch my head a little (50% difference) but the 58 will more than likely end in my bag.

PS Nearly US$500 is a lot of money comparing it to prices at BH; an AF50-1 is about half that and the AF58-2 is still cheaper at BH than the AF48 in your country. You might be in the same position as me; local prices are high but don't seem to be as bad as yours. I like to support the local economy but sometimes it's very difficult.

I had the 50 and now the 58. It was worth the upgrade for more features, particularly A-mode.

Thanks for the replies. Made the upgrade (managed to talk the sales clerk out for 388$-equivalent, sweet!), and seeing from the recycle speed alone, it is worth it. Don't know if I'd have to use the myriad of other features but p-TTL remote is very useful, as well as the secondary reflector.
