Metz 24 flash dead?

I have a Metz 24 AF-1. I was taking pictures with the flash and it was going off fine. All of a sudden it stops. I change batteries. I am seeing the green charged light on the flash and when I take a picture the ok light lights up red like normal. I'm guessing the flash is getting the signal to fire since the ok light is illuminating. Am I witnessing this flash dying?

Unfortunately, you are seeing part of the flash die. It sounds like it needs a new bulb. Happened to my 58 - Metz replaced it for $60 in about two weeks. Their repair facility used to be in North Jersey - I believe Manfrotto (which owns Metz) has moved all of their repair services to CRIS camera in AZ. They do good work, though - they replaced the sd slot on my k7 and cleaned everything inside and out to brand new condition.

I was afraid of that. I have only had it for 5 months. I should have put that money towards a better manual flash. Ugh.
