light comparisons

I'm wondering if anyone has some light comparisons they can share? Searching often gives "reviews", but I'm looking for more things like this:

as I'm doing a lot of experimentation with light these days, but don't have unlimited free studio time, I'd like to have some ideas of things before I get in there.

For something purely mechanical, there's the virtual studio that lets you adjust lights around a 3-d computer model:

That's interesting...looks a little wooden. I'm more interested in seeing things with different light mods, like for example the second one has some comparisons of things like beauty dishes with diffuser on and off and that kind of thing.
