Haven't tried it yet, so can't comment - I just wanted to post the news for any who may care.
I am curious to see if there are any new options for the slave/servo wireless operation.

Do you know if they included an option to disable preflash suppression in servo mode? In other words, I want it to operate as a "dumb" optical slave.

That is exactly what I was hoping for, too. I requested last year sometime that they consider adding the option in the next firmware release - either an option to enable/disable like you mentioned or a setting for the number of preflashes to ignore in servo mode.

Anyway I plan to check it out tonight.

The only thing I found in the new firmware that was different was the HSS option. Tested that - works fine. No changes to or any options for remote servo mode.

Does the Metz 58 now work as a HSS master and slave, or still just the slave?

I don't think it will do HSS master. I only See "PTTL" when in remote master/controller mode and shutter is limited to 1/180.

But what has been changed then?

I'm using V3.0 and I'm already able to use the 58 AF-2 with HSS on my K-5 II.

Did you make sure that the camera's metering was active, i.e., that the flash was registered with the camera? If not, you won't see the P-TTL HSS option as one of the modes (as you probably know) and you may not see it as a master option either.

BTW, a commenter on NoodleLow's blog claimed that V4.0 introduces a problem with the A-mode.

Can anyone who has updated already confirm / disprove this?

I'm rather sure the flash was registered with the camera but I can give it another go tonight. I can also give A mode a go. I'm used to shoot on manual for 99% of the time, so I might miss something.

HSS didn't work with K-30 using earlier firmware. It does now.

I was prepping for a wedding shoot and it took longer than expected.

I decided to use PTTL during the wedding and my impression based on how the photos looked on the cam display is, that it worked better than expected. I'm used to manual settings so I can't say if PTTL better or worse than how it should me.

Just did some few shots in A mode, both bounced and direct flash. Exposures look fine and somewhat consistent to me. I don't know what problem NoodleLow experienced and can't really comment further on that.

Did you have another go at checking whether HSS in master mode comes available (either as a new "Remote" option or a new mode), making sure that the camera and flash are aware of each other (metering should be active)?

I can't spot any new option and all remote modes limit the shutter to 1/180 while the flash is mounted onto the camera.

I only have a single HSS capable flash so can't do off camera tests.
