From what I've read, the RF604 is a slightly improved ripoff unauthorized copy of the YongNuo RF-603, made by another company in Shenzhen. It has a couple features that were just added to the new RF-603 II, like a nut to secure the hotshoe and a dedicated TX switch, plus a "602" mode to be compatible with RF-602s. If it really does everything that a YongNuo RF-603N does (only the Nikon version of the RF-603 will 'wake up' on a Pentax camera), then it should work with a K-30 and YN-560 III, but I haven't read anything to say how reliable it would be - it is a competitor's copy of an already cheap trigger, after all.

Thank you...

Might get this one unless there is better alternative. The 602 seems to be more reliable (on reading the forum) than the 603.

If the 602N is the better then I will by this...

I haven't had any experience with the RF-602, but my RF-603Ns (for Nikon) seem to work fine. I understand the RF-603Cs (for Canon) never wake up to switch to transmit mode on a Pentax. With the RF-602, one unit is a dedicated transmitter. You will need to change a setting on your YN-560 III to use 602 mode instead of 603.

RF602 seems to give some people grief with unreliable 1/180s. You can do a search

AAaaaaaahhhhh

OK

So if I buy this..

Yongnuo RF-603 N3 2.4GHz Wireless Flash Trigger: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

will it work?

Prefer the first (604n) because of the locking wheel and its cheaper

Yes, I have those, and they will definitely work. If you want to save a little, look for a pair that doesn't come with a camera remote cable (cable to trigger the camera). The N1/N2/N3/N4 indicates which cable comes with the set, and of course, the only one that works with the K-30 is a Canon C1. But if you don't plan on triggering the camera remotely, you won't need it.

Since you already have a YN-560 III, you could just get a single transceiver to go on the camera:

Am I missing something ? Every thing shown despite being called triggers look like revivers to me a trigger goes on the hot shoe as we all know and a receiver connects to the flash via its hot shoe or cable?
The triggers I have don't look like these but the receivers do?
Example http://www.amazon.co.uk/PT-04A-Wireless-Trigger-Receivers-Olympus/dp/B003RHV...eywords=ishoot

The YongNuo RF-603 is a transceiver - it can be a transmitter/trigger or receiver. It will go into transmitter (TX) mode on a Pentax body if (1) it is the RF-603N version for Nikon, (2) it is on the hotshoe, and (3) the camera is 'awake'. The version for Canon does not detect the 'awake' signal from a Pentax.

The just-released RF-603 II has a switch to force the unit into TX mode, as does the NEEWER RF-604 referenced in the original post. This can be useful if you want to take the unit off the body and use it as a remote fob, or if you get tired of having to 'wake' the camera by half-pressing the shutter, or if you have Canon and Pentax bodies (I think this is true - I haven't gotten one to test yet).

Just to follow up on this thread. I bought the rf-604 which works perfectly with the yn-560 III (you must have the yn-560 on Channel 16) and the k-30.

Just thought I would update this for anyone else thinking of buying one.

A big thank you for everyone's help
