My DIY Macro Flash Diffuser

Over Dyxum.com, they have showcase of several quite creative DIY macro diffusers. I borrowed the idea of Pegelli's OJ Carton Box, refine it to stay better by itself. Here is my version:

Test Shots:

The design is optimized at f/5.6 and f/8, shutter speed 1/180. It's still usable at f/11, but crank it up to ISO 200 for better exposure. At f/4, a thin tissue can add in front to reduce amount of light.

At 1:1, I have to remove the hood of the VL 125 to avoid black out (so I might need an short extension with the hood on). Probably going to bug hunt again to try out this new diffuser

The whole setup is taped by masking tape, so I can take it apart and flatten it to put in my bag.

Pretty impressive for do it youself....nice shots....

Thanks Charlie. This piece still produce a directional flash beam, so harsh shadow is unavoidable. I'm trying to come up with a compact design of a flash ring. Others do have DIY flash ring design for a more power flash gun, but they look quite cumbersome and funky
