k20d max flash trigger voltage question

I have Vivitar 285, and a 285 HV and learned about too much voltage and digital camera's being damage.

I've been researching and the k20d does meet an iso standard so it has to at least designed to handle 6 volts.

I've tested the 285 and it max dc volts hits 8.1v, and the 285HV hits 7.1v.

The manual is vague, just a general warning about older flashes and too much voltage.

Researching the web getting conflicting info about the max flash trigger voltage k20d being 10v, 25v, to having built in protection.

Worst case, I may have to buy one of those adapters to prevent more then 6 volts from getting to the camera.

You might want to check here: Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages They list the 285 @ 350 volts but information seems variable possibly due to changes over time.

General consensus I have read is that anything under 12v is fine on Pentax. YMMV.

I've been using a Metz with 24V without any problem, at least for my K10D and K-7.

Below 12V will be safe, no problems. I've used a 285HV for a while with my K20D, it was 8-9V and worked well.
