K3 + P-TTL Shoe Mount Flash work correctly?

I wanted to find out from some K-3 owners using a P-TTL Shoe Mount Flash if the K-3 exposes correctly with the flash.

Have been going through the frustrating overexposure problem with the K5 series using a Metz 52 AF-1. I called Pentax as was told I could send in my body for calibration... but after reading about precision camera and the overexposure problem here, I am hesitant to send it.

Thanks.

What model flash are you using?

K-3 exposes fine with my cheap and cheerful Sigma EF-530 DG.

Metz 48 AF-1 I think I updated the flash firmware at some point but it has been a while.

The K-3 doesn't suffer from the "bounce flash overexposure" bug known from the K-5.
It suffers from shutter lag instead. There are several threads dedicated to that topic.

I don't know which is the lesser problem. I kind of had the K-5 flash exposure errors figured out
and had exposure compensation workarounds for most of it. I couldn't cope with
variable-aperture zooms though, that was too unpredictable for me.

The K-3 P-TTL shutter lag is making it really difficult to time actions shots precisely.
Luckily there's a workaround for that too, which is manual flash exposure.

Regards,
--Anders.
