The old 540 has great ratings but the new 360 does so much more
but I would be paying almost 150 dollars extra...which could go to
a new lens.........what do you think?

I think that you should buy the K-3 w/free grip from B&H Photo instead of the Fuji and Nikon cameras that your friends are pushing you to buy and add the 540 to your cart for just $50. It would save you $300 that you could use in purchasing the DA* 55mm that you are lusting after.

I do not have the option above. I am new to flash photography. Someone is offering me the original AF-360FGZ in excellent condition for $90 USD. I know it does not swivel like the AF-560FGZ. What else does the 360FGZ not do that I might regret? Or will it be just fine for starters? A used 540FGZ isn't really much more, maybe $180. Can I use the 360FGZ with my K-3 how do you say, off-mounted on a tripod stand, with an umbrella, for example?
