Question re Raising Flash Sync

Just wondering if Pentax decides to increase their Flash Sync speed from 1/180 second to lets say 1/250 second on a new camera body, would it require a firmware change on the flash units or are they independent of the sync speed?

They are independent and take their cues from the body.

Evidently not the newly announced KS2 has a sync speed of 180.

That is what I had thought. That's good then in terms of existing flashes. Hopefully however the new ff body will allow for a higher sync above 180, perhaps reaching new levels for full frames. Also I would like to see a more sophisticated flash system similar in features to Nikons

Will be nice to see Pentax coming up with higher sync speeds... and pushing things a little further and start building radio remote controls built in the camera and their flashes.
That will be a dream come true... .

I would love to see a higher synch speed. I don't think it will happen though.
