A good off camera flash cord?

What off camera flash cord is it recommended to work properly?
I bought a few years ago an unnamed cord for Pentax and a Nissin SC-01 universal cord. With none of these the flash does not work properly.
I do not want the Pentax system with a F5P cord and two F adapters.

No idea but maybe you can indicate if you require (p)TTL functionality or not.

JJC is a Chinese brand on eBay that make OK ones (JJC FC-P3). I've bought two over the years, each was about AUD $20 and worked fine.

Just make sure you buy a Pentax cord that it says it supports P-TTL. Also be careful when attaching the cord - sometimes it's fiddly.

I have a Vivitar flash cord for Pentax. As far as I can tell the flash communicates with the camera just as well as when it is in the hot-shoe. A bit short for my liking but it only costs something like USD 15, far less than the solution Pentax offers.

Could it be your flash? I also have the Nissin SC-01 universal cord and don't seem to have any problems in PTTL with my flash, which is a Metz 44 AF-1.

After all, such a cord is only an extension of the contacts and not much else (apart from the switch on the SC-01).

OK, with that out of the way, which flash unit are you using? Model number please.

Thanks for the replies. I have two flashes, Metz 58 AF-1 digital and one cheap generic chinese flash (it is named Exakta DPZ 38AF-P).
The flashes mounted directly on top of the camera are working properly. Perhaps it is imperfect electrical contacts.

You might want to check out the pentax solution. I have one, a little $$$ but they do work well.
