2.4G for flash controller

I was wondering if anybody knows the format of the 2.4G transmissions used by the latest master and slave systems. The reason for the question is that the latest Pentax the S2 has 2.4G wifi built in. So could the wifi electronics be used as a master flash controller. Or is the hardware incompatible, they just happen to use the same frequency band.

Which "master and slave systems" are you referring to?

In a way, it doesn't matter because even when the exact same frequency bands were used, the transmitted codes would differ.

It would be cool if in the future Pentax used the same radio hardware for WiFi and radio-controlled flashes, but I reckon it will take a long time until we see something like this (unless the FGZ II models already have the radio receivers secretly built in).

The Yongnuo Yn-622 and their flashes. I think they use some standard called RF-607

The "standard" reads like one of their product codes (e.g., RF-603) and I have never heard of any "standard" like this.

Yongnuo products are hardly compatible with each other. They offer three different radio systems (all 2.4 GHz based, IIRC) that did not speak to each other until recently, when some level of compatibility was at last introduced.

Most modern radio triggers use a 2.4GHz platform but they are all incompatible with each other because each manufacturer uses their own specific code sets.

The use of 2.4ghz in cheap rf devices (ie flash triggers routers etc) is because its unlicensed i.e free to use there is no 'standard' in cheap RF devices and certainly flash triggers do not have the complexity to operate on 802.xx (WiFi) protocols or even bluetooth.
That isn't to say that a WiFi capable camera couldn't also have a 'flash Fi' mode probable operating on a fixed channel and outside 802.xx standards and with unique receivers.
The 2.4ghz range was allocated 'unlicenced' because of microwaves which already operated in this band and hence the band was considered unusable commercially.
And no your camera cannot be made to cook your dinner even though it uses the same frequencies
