K100D and Af540 fgz Wireless

Dear all, As a reader of this forum at most times i now have a bit of a problem.

I bought a 540 flash unit to go with my K100D and i must admit that is a very impressive piece of equipment, I'm still going through the manual.

I read somewhere on the net that pentax is pretty bad i writing manuals (Not wrong) anyway my question is....

Is it possible to use the Af-540 fgz flash wireless with the K100D, If so please tell me how.....

Thanks so much.

hi Roof. welcome to the forums!

I ran into this question myself as I also have a K100D and a few months ago I bought a Pentax AF540FGZ to use for a wedding (have since used it for a billion other things).

From what I've experienced, the Pentax AF540FGZ can be used a wireless slave but only if you have another Pentax flash on your camera's hotshoe. In other words, you'd need a Pentax AF360FGZ firing, and the AF540FGZ will then fire in wireless mode.

Otherwise, it won't fire. I went to ebay and bought the Cactus V2 wireless triggers and that's how I got my AF540FGZ off my camera.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for that mate, After reading the Manual over and over again, I realized the same as what you told me....

I must say that i tthink it is a bit of false advertising but hey. I quite like the flash and i'll see what i do on the wireless bit.

Cheers

You can also use the AF200 flash to trigger the AF540. And the AF200 is often the perfect flash to use as "fill-in" when you want to travel light.

but the af200 doesn't operate as a W-PTTL controller, does it?
