Better Beamer & the AF540FGZ

Hey everyone, I've got a question about the "Better Beamer" flash extender and the AF540FGZ. Does anyone have the partidular combination and if so, how is it working for you and which model did you get? Thanks!

Better Beamer flash extender with AF-540FGZ [example imgs]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

"You have to make sure you get the correctly sized unit for your flash, though. All of the dealer websites fail to list the AF-540FGZ unit so you can't work out the right size. It took me ages searching the web before I found a girl who shoots birds with one on her AF-540FGZ. She told me the right one to buy, and I was all set. The correct one for the AF-540FGZ is the FX-2."

I'm going to try making my own...

If you do a search on google there's quite a few people who've made their own better beamers. I figure there is nothing to lose as the material costs are quite cheap.

I have one each for my AF500 FTz and AF540 FGZ, they are different.

for the AF500 FTZ you use the FX-5
for the AF540FGZ you use the FX-1

How much do you think these increase the flash power?

Did you buy them in Canada? I have been thinking of getting one. But the only sources I see are in the U.S., but the shipping cost for these is very high.

Oh well, if I can't source them with reasonable shipping I'll just make one from scratch. I just haven't found a source of cheap fresnels; they just don't seem to be available everywhere I've looked.
