Spread of lighting

Hi all,

I've got a 600W strobe head, and a 60x90cm (2x3ft) softbox.
I'm wondering if there's a way to find out how much area the strobe will light up? (besides trial and error)

I've got a 4.5m backdrop I need to cover. I'm thinking if I crank up the power, and move it a couple meters away, that should be enough?

I'm sure there is some sort of mathematical way, but easiest would be trial and error

Just kill all the lights in the room and take a picture with a wide angle lens to see.
