After speaking to their sales Manageress. Ive ordered one direct from the company. Hoping for good results on camera. But more importantly as Nigel says to use as a trigger to fire my AF540fgz in HSS mode off camera. I'll let you all know the outcome of the venture when it arrives... Hope the postman runs im anxious now....

Unfortunately that configuration should not work .... The Pentax flash needs a P-TTL control signal to work in HSS slave mode, and this is what the Shanny does not provide. Put the flashes the other way around and there's more chance, so long as the S2 mode on the Shanny can work out the Pre -flashes from the Pentax.

Ideally we want the Pentax 'wireless control' mode to work, but if it won't then the 'master' option might.

Great. Looking forward to more of your feedback once you have had time to use it some more. Has anyone else ordered one?

Does all I wanted it to.... HSS off camera. Though you need another HSS flash to trigger it. But still a cheaper option. Yes I do know you can use an ND filter.. But this is a lot less trouble. Lets hope they bring their proposed trigger to the market quickly.. Then we can have remote power control. Read somewhere they can only be controlled by Yongnuo manual triggers.. Thats not true of this model. Not perfect on the off camera routines..But then they have never marketed it as so..Just my wishful thinking..But as a first offering. This is a good try.. Lets hope they convert some more Canon copies to work on Pentax Cameras....lol Now I know where the Yongnuo YN600ex-rt is made....

So is this a better option than the Sigma EF-610 DG ST? From amazon.co.uk it is roughly the same price...

I think it is a more compelling choice than the basic Sigma model ..... Plus the Shanny has the promise (or hope) of a trigger system coming. The off-camera Manual HSS mode makes it useful for those who already have an HSS dedicated system flash, and it will be very interesting to find out if this Shanny model can be profiled to work with the Cactus V6II, for off-camera HSS plus power control .....

Now we need some brave soul to do a shootout between this one and the newly released $80 Yongnuo YN585EX P-TTL. Is it confirmed that this Shanny has a radio receiver built in?

Yes all those things are true as ive got one....!! Sorry except the radio trigger or reciever...I good unit but only half a flash to me until someone develops a trigger....
I also own the Sigma model and the Shanny is a far better gun... The Sigma though P-TTL doesnt have full manual control. no HSS no focus assist beam..Though even on the Shanny the focus beam isnt brilliant..

Looking at a cheap Fong style dome diffuser for this.

Anyone know what style the SHANNY is? P1, P2, P3 etc?

Thinking one of the cheap JYC Lambency models...

Excellent, thanks.

Looks like the P4 option is the closest match then.
