I thought about getting a Metz flash a few years ago, but decided against it and bought a Pentax 350 flash for my Pentaxes and a Canon 430 flash for my Canon. Glad I did, with no support like this it confirms my view to stick with the original manufacturer for accessories. Pentax, Pentax accessories and with my Canon...Canon accessories.

yesterday Metz told me, that they will not make anymore firmwareupdates for the 58 AF-1 and 58AF-2. So the Masterfunction for the K-1 will never work again!

Please everybody write to Metz, so they maybe will think about it!

2,5 years later isn't even possible to fire the Metz 58 AF-1 in P-TTL Mode with Pentax K1. Only A and M Mode on the flash works ... it is a pitty!

(as fs999 said the contact cleaning helped to flash with P-TTL again :-) )

It's a very old flash, the last firmware update was in 2016 (V6.0)... On the other hand my 52 AF-1 works well...
Did you try to clean the contacts on both sides ?

I think their will never will come something new from Metz.

I have some SCA-Module (all Metz, for different Branches of Body) which I should be updated with Firmware and Hardware Modification to let them work properly with my 2 pcs of Metz 76 MZ-5. I am afraid that I never get this Modules back, because in the meantime they will probably go in a chapter 11 :-(

The latest Firmware for their newest M400 is from March 2019. After that date nothing new arrived. Probably they stop business for "flashes" and will go bancrupt very soon. On their website you can see that they also sell E-Shooter & E-Bikes. So the have left their Core-Business (Flashes & TV-Sets).

No Idea what they are planning. So probably one of the last independent Flash Producer will left the market very soon :-( Here in Europa their are no alternatives anymore. The one that are left are from Asia (Cactus, Godox, Neuer, Sigma & Yongnuo) and off course all the Branche Own Flashes, which are often to expensive!

@fs999: Thanks for reminding me to clean the contacts. Now the 52 AF-1 works in nP-TTL ans P-TTL HSS mode again on the K1 :-) . ... but nit as Master ;-(
@Gerard_Dirks: I think you are right, Metz never will give use a firmware V 6.x to fix the Master/Slave bug.
Therefore I use my Cactus V6II tranceiver and receivers.

I tried yesterday with my 52 AF-1 as master on my K-1 and my old 48 AF-1 in slave mode, and it works very well...

I haven't test it with the 52AF! I tested it with an 58AF2 in the past and it doesn't work as Master on the K-1. When I plug an original Pentax flash on my K-1 as Master I am able to fire all the Metz as slave!

I stopped the waiting and bought a lot of Cactus V6ii
