I have been using Savage Midnight Black Velvetine as a ground for shooting abstract still life arrangements. It is great stuff, absolutly sucks up the light, no reflections or highlights at all. However, it does seem to be a dust magnet, and brushing it with a soft brush does little good. Does anyone have suggestions for dust removal, (vacuum cleaner, maybe) or am I stuck with using a new piece every two or three shoots?

Welcome to the forum, I guess it's all about revenue stream, if this is how you make your living... you need to just cost in the extra of more cloth to each shoot.

You might try a lint brush (which has a sheet of very short stiff slanted bristles that when rubbed against the grain tend to pick up lint ) or a lint roller (which uses double-sided masking tape to remove lint).

I've not tried these on Velvetine but both solutions are cheap and you can test a corner to see if they affect the Velvetine.
