Yongnuo yn585ex vs Godox tt600 vs ???

I'm looking for a reasonable budget flash to pair with Pentax K70 with 50-300 PLM for street portraits and bird shots.

Looking at what is available, Yongnuo and Godox seem to be the best options... each has strengths and weeknesses.

Yongnuo has P-TTL, but only zooms to 110mm.

Godox is a manual flash, but zooms to 200mm.

Thoughts?

For bird shots, you're better off with an HSS capable flash so you can up the shutter speed to 1/500, 1/1000s, Steve.

I have the Yongnuo YN585EX. It does an excellent job. The P-TTL functioned great with my K-3II when I tested it, the histogram results and images were very satisfying. It is well made and comes with a nice pouch.

I have found the Shanny flash to work very well including HSS on my Nikon but it is also available for Pentax including HSS https://www.amazon.com/Shanny-SN600FGZ-Pentax-EACHSHOT-Diffuser/dp/B01MSWTVE...ntaxforums-20&

I can't find anywhere whether the Yongnuo supports HSS. Can you confirm if it works?

The YN585EX does not have HHS. It works well as P-TTL on camera or as a manual flash. It also works well as an off-camera P-TTL with an appropriate controller like the Pentax 540 II, but can't be used the other way around as the YN can't be used as the controller.

It does not mention HSS specifically in the manual. It does mention something about High Speed Continuous Shooting, but it does not define it as HSS and I have not tried that option yet.

I have three AF360FGZ flashes in case I need HSS.

My earlier post on this subject should have said that the YN585EX does not have HSS, instead of HHS. Another consideration is that it doesn't have a built in radio receiver like the YN560 III or IV. In any event, it's a nice P-TTL flash for the money.

I use Cactus V5 radio triggers with my flashes. The YN585EX is also capable of the off camera optical triggering when the camera utilizes a flash in its hot shoe (on camera flash). The P-TTL is also a valuable feature. I prefer using the radio triggers in most cases.
