Another useful video.

Not much else to display about using HSS with the Shanny, I reckon.

I'll be re-borrowing my friends Metz flash and Cactus V6 II triggers, so, don't worry... There will be more to come!

Yes, +1.0 flash compensation, that did it for those flowers! That's a good demo of the light balancing capabilities of HSS flash, and I get a sense that the Shanny had a fair bit more power spare if needed. Thanks for taking the effort to do these, I am sure it will be encouraging to many people thinking of trying some HSS flash on a budget.

I will be making a new video about off camera HSS with the Shanny Flash and Cactus V6II triggers now that my friend dropped the triggers off. Hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow. If not, it will be done this week regardless.

Hello guys!

I've created this thread because I didn't want to hijack the other two dedicated to this speedlight, as my question is little and direct:

- Can the HSS feature in the Shanny SN600FGZ be used just by mounting the speedlight on the K-3II flash hot shoe and manually selecting a speed above 1/180?

Will this work or do I'd need to buy a trigger like the Cactus?

Thank you in advance for your help!!!
I just purchased a K3ii and already had the Shanny flash, works perfectly in hss, as others have said must be in pttl and hss mode. One of the main reasons I got a K3ii was for flash exposure. It was very hit and miss on my k5ii

If your using the Cactus V6II unit to couple to the flash. Couldn't you then use the Nikon or Canon versions of the Shanny Flash unit.. As they are considerably cheaper ?

You could, possibly, with the multi brand firmware (manual mode only). For the XTTL firmware and TTL mode then a P-TTL dedicated system type flash is needed

Sorry to hijack, but has anyone found triggers that work with the shanny? I’ve tried two different ebay variants with no luck.
I used Cactus V6 II triggers to fire the Shanny in HSS (Shanny must be set to PTTL to get HSS). One trigger in TX mode on the hotshoe and one in RX mode under the Shanny, both set to same channel and group. Worked like a champ. Also did a quick test using the V6 version trigger (no support for HSS with the V6) and worked to fire the Shanny in standard sync mode. Getting the correct firmware version possibly key to desired result. Version that allows V6 II to support X-TTL does not talk to V6 if trying to use both for standard sync. So, have not tried to create a TTL group using the V6 II and the Shanny. Also, with the firmware version I used, I had no apparent power control over the Shanny from the TX unit - adjusted manually. Not sure that would change with any firmware though. Cactus RF60X units did remote adjust using the TX unit, so were mounted in the softbox. The Cactus troubleshooting pages are invaluable to sus out the issues and see if there are solutions before making the jump. So far, so good for my purposes.
