Which flash is better for my K-1

So I don't do a lot of flash shooting, but I do occasionally find myself wishing I had a flash for this camera. I know the 540 FGZ II is overkill for what I need, not to mention over my budget. I'd like to keep it at $250 or less.

I'm considering a used Flash Either the Pentax Auto Strobe AF 540FGZ (ver 1) or the AF360FGZII. Are there others I should consider?

I'd use it mostly for Fill flash or in darker indoor settings, and some Macro shots. I'd like to be able to use HSS and P-TTL/TTL modes.

Thanks for any advice on this.

Check out the AF201. It might be too small for what you want, but for general use, it replaces a flip-up flash, is very compact, and has four modes (auto and manual). There are reviews of it here: PENTAX AF 201FG reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

I have the AF540 and the AF201 and find myself using the latter more often because of its size and I can drop it in a pocket when not using it if I don't want it on the camera. It has a flip-out diffuser for use with wide lenses and takes 2 AAA cells which deliver pretty good lifetimes considering.

Either of the Pentax AF360FGZs are good value for money and fall in that range(ver 1 or two). I have one of each and they get used more than the AF540FGZ I have.

Forget Pentax units, They are way too expensive.. My advice would be the Shanny SN600FGZ If just wanting a single on camera flash system. Powerful, HSS P-TTL.

What did you think of your purchase ? As a newcomer to flash it would be interesting to others in the same position..?

I've used it a couple of times around the house, but haven't had a need yet. But when I do I have it on hand.
