Thanks to all those that have contributed. I've attached an image of one of the first photos I've taken with the new setup. Apologies for the delay, had to abruptly travel away for work for the last 5 weeks.

As always, happy to hear opinions on how I might improve the light, I'll be back to tinkering with this over the next couple of weeks.

Why go to some of these lengths when you can get a ring flash? I got one for 12 GBP from ebay.

I already own a ring flash, it's not often ideal IMO.

Is there a third party ring flash that works decent? Although I will try the DIY diffuser I would like the option of a nice ring flash.
