Lume cube, any reviews?

I am looking for portable LED lighting that won't break the bank.

I found the Lume Cube but is their anyone here who have any field experience with it who could give some insights?

What is you planned use? Macro, portraits, as general fill? The light is pretty hard which limits its usefulness IMO. I have one around here somewhere but never took a liking to it. Minimally it needs the small dome diffuser IMO if you plan to put it to work in the field.

I carry a Manfrotto Lumimuse (8 LED version) for macro work and typically handheld for positioning. In rare instances I've used two of them but wouldn't suggest spending the money getting more than one, I only picked up the second because I was lucky to find one new for under $30. Two of them is a niche use.

The Cube is probably a bit brighter, just didn't like the look of the light it produced for my intended use.

I bought a set, and still need to figure out how to use it well.
I found a pair of flashes with mini softboxes were better for close work. I think the Lumecubes are good for remote lighting and such.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I am mainly going to use them for general fill light e.g. to lighten up shadows etc... I also found another candidate in the Aputure AL-M9 which has a better reputation when it comes to the light color and harshness...

But I like the looks of the Manfrotto, will take a look on that one, Thanks!

Edit: I watched some reviews of the Manfrotto Lumie 3 and decided that this one was the kind I want, and found one that was on sale! Looking forward to try it out IRL!! Thanks a lot for the input!
