Is it possible to use Nikon flash on K200/K2000?

Since I have a Nikon SB-24 - can I use it on the Pentax K20/K200/K2000 w/o damaging my camera?

I see mentioned on here voltage output - what is the limit for the Pentax and how do I check confirm what my flash puts out?

I'd also wouldn't mind getting the SB-400 for the Pentax instead - is this possible?

The SB series is fine for our cameras. I'm not sure of the max voltage, but the other mfr's say around 6v.

I have a 24 myself and it's just fine in the hot shoe. Mine seems to only work with 1/160s, not the 1/180s in X Sync mode...

Thx - good to know that I can still use some of my old stuff. Can it still work on TTL? or do I have to go "manual" auto?

I'd still be interested though if the SB-400 can be used also because of its small size and bounce capability. I'm not looking for a powerful one since I already have a Metz 45 and 60 CT.

Wow the SB-24 can work on the K20D??? You sure?

That's awesome! I have an SB-24 that I use off-camera with my Flashwaves!

Can it work on TTL? Or only on manual?

Hey Diego, I used to use an SB28 on my K10D. Sold it already though... but it works in Manual and "A" mode.

Do you have your EV steps set to 1/3, by any chance?

Know what...I do Never thought about that...

I rarely move the dial out of M mode anyway, but it's good to know there's a remedy

Well, I finally had some time to try out my SB-24.

I know it won't work "TTL" or "P-TTL" so I set the camera on manual, and set the flash to "A" mode.

It seems like I can't get a good exposure on it, overexposed to the max is what I get. I don't think it's going to full power as it recycles pretty quick. Any hints/tips on what I need to do?

Perhaps stop down a little?

Or just use both flash and camera on manual and set it up yourself.

With camera on M, flash on A set @ f5.6 and lens (M50 1.4) set @ f16 it's still overexposed. I'll have to post some shots later.

I apologize for replying to an old thread, but I'm trying to make my Pentax *istDS to work with my Nikon SB-20 flash.

I have a question for people here who use Nikons SB flash.. Do you make any changes or remove any of the pin/contact of the flash, or just mount the flash right away on Pentax body? Would the supposedly propietary Nikon communication pins conflict/confuse Pentax body? Or worse, damage the body?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: SOldBear have answered my question in my other thread here, just for reference. Thank you.

Maybe your lens has a slow aperture? Have you tried a different lens?

Why use the flash on A? Using M mode, you can dial back the power level while matching your aperture, ISO, etc settings.

I put my -24 straight on the camera with no issues. I've used the Nikon flash for about a year now
