triggers

In your opinion which triggers are the most affordable, yet most reliable?

Simple triggers that work as both transmitter and receiver? I am fond of the Yongnuo RF-603N II (Nikon flavor works best on Pentax)

Despite appearances, they can be quite capable for a number of tasks (e.g. remote shutter with wireless sync).

Haven't used any other trigger, so can't compare reliability, but as to most affordable, the X2T-P is on sale at Adorama for $29.95 . Works nicely on my K-1 II. The AF assist lamp works as well.

If you don't need any TTL/HSS then look no further than the Flashpoint R2 Single Pin Transceiver.

I had several Yongnuo RF-602 in the past (I don't remember if I got the Nikon or Canon version), and they were super cheap and reliable.
The RF-603 II series is a step up, as they are transceivers.
The RF-605 series is maybe most interesting as they have group control, which is a super useful feature. I remember they were quite reliable too, but not as cheap as the RF-602. Can the rf-605 be compared with the Flashpoint R2?

Anyway, once I started to buy Godox flashes I sold my old triggers, but I keep a good memory of my old yongnuo triggers.

...as do the RF-603 II, but as dip switches...not nearly as handy.

I am so very incorrect here...channel only...see comment below for public confession and penance done.

Actually, morenjavi's correct. The RF-603 IIs do not offer group on/off control, only the RF-605s do. The dip switches you're thinking about are for channel selection.

Hmmmm...you are so very correct and I am so very mortified! I have my YN560-TX II configured with group A as M 1/1 for use with the RF-603 IIs with group B used for the YN560 III speedlites and have been using it that way for so long that I totally forgot that there is only ONE row of DIP switches used to set channel-only with those transceivers.

Steve

(...still considers the RF-603 II to be the value queen of simply wireless transceivers...)

Look for YongNuo or Godox.

I have settled on YN560IV and the YN560-TX for many years now and it even does paid work.
RF triggering, grouping, power and zoom control all from the TX which is as much as I need in most situations.

The more recent YongNuo and Godox triggers/flashes will come with PTTL, and HSS for about $80 each, so even better.

No problem, just a little mistake (like the ones I do frequently when I post). You can stop mortifying yourself .

Hi guys,
i read this thread but i didn't find a real answer to my question, so here it is:

I have this amigos

* the Yongnuo cotroller (let's call it transmitter) YN560-TX in the hotshoe of a K3 mark III
* the Yongnuo RF603N II,
* the Pentax AF540FGZ flash unit
* the Yongnuo 560 III flash unit

do you guys think I can change the power using the controller (transmitter) so that the Pentax flash will rise or decrease the flash power ?

I set up everything (the flashes upon the receivers in TRX mode, the flashes in M mode) and the and I try everything but i can just use the flashes (both!) full power (1/1).

Thanks for any help

Danilo

Danilo, with the YN560TX on the camera and the YN560III flash off-camera, you can trigger the flash and also control the flash power level from the YN560TX.

With the YN560TX on the camera and the RF603N II attached to the Pentax AF540FGZ off-camera, you can trigger the flash, but you can not adjust the power level from the YN560TX. To adjust the power level of the Pentax flash you must do that on the flash itself.

Stupid people. They always reliably trigger me for some reason, and they come to me for free.
