Metz 48-1 AF Newbie

Just got a 48-1 yesterday and struggling to learn the settings and menu system.

I managed to download a working copy of the user instructions but its a lot of description and not many diagrams of the menu's and the various symbols - anybody could point me in the direction of any additional information youtube video etc

Review on Youtube (10 years ago) about the Metz 48 AF-1 flash.

and for something very similar:

I assume that you got a flash unit and want to put it on the hotshoe of your camera and then you expect it to ”just work” but you have difficulties in understanding what settings are needed and what the information on the display of the flash unit means. Did I summarize it right?

I am assuming no prior knowledge of flash photography in general. Here is a series of 4 videos for introduction:

The best place to start learning is the strobist blog, I recommend that very much.

Question: do you have the version of the flash that is made for Pentax?

Please make sure that the model you have is not designed specifically for Canon or Nikon or Sony. It's about the electric pins on the hotshoe and how the flash unit communicates with the camera. If it is not the model designed for Pentax cameras, then you can still use it, but off-camera, in manual mode. Then you may want an additional pair of radio trigger & radio receiver, to use with that flash.

See user reviews on pentaxforums.com here.

Many thanks for the replies, I have studied the instruction more last night and makes more sense now, but Metz's leaves a lot down to which Pentax camera model you have, to what menu options actually are displayed and or actually have any effect on the shoot.

What I was searching for was more Quick Start type instructions (with diagrams showing which button to press etc), I found one for 48 AF-1 digital and slave mode.
I have a K20D camera.
