Review on Youtube (10 years ago) about the Metz 48 AF-1 flash.
and for something very similar:
I assume that you got a flash unit and want to put it on the hotshoe of your camera and then you expect it to ”just work” but you have difficulties in understanding what settings are needed and what the information on the display of the flash unit means. Did I summarize it right?
I am assuming no prior knowledge of flash photography in general. Here is a series of 4 videos for introduction:
The best place to start learning is

Question: do you have the version of the flash that is made for Pentax?
Please make sure that the model you have is not designed specifically for Canon or Nikon or Sony. It's about the electric pins on the hotshoe and how the flash unit communicates with the camera. If it is not the model designed for Pentax cameras, then you can still use it, but off-camera, in manual mode. Then you may want an additional pair of radio trigger & radio receiver, to use with that flash.
