Difference between Wireless Master & Control settings on AF-360FGZ

What is the difference between the Wireless Master flash(M) setting and the Control flash(C) setting on the Pentax AF-360FGZ ? They both set off an external flash, but the Manual does not state the differences.
BTW This is the old AF-360FGZ version 1 NOT version 2.

I am not a Pentax shooter or an AF-360FGZ user, but I used to be a professional tech writer, so I can puzzle out user manuals. From what I gather on page 45, both modes are for using the AF-360FGZ as an on-camera wireless master unit. You use M if you also want to use the AF360FGZ as an on-camera flash; you use C if you only want to use it as a wireless controller, but not as a flash (i.e., you don't want it to fire).

Basically the ‘master’ setting allows the on camera flash to contribute to the exposure while the ‘control’ setting just triggers the external flash without significantly contributing to exposure.

Makes sense, I think that's it ! The AF-360FGZ manual was written prior to the K-5 IIs( my camera). So I have to go through some of the fuctions to see if my camera supports them.

The advice above is correct. If using the AF360 on camera and another flash off camera, the Master mode allows both flashes to contribute to the exposure, the Controller mode allows only the remote flash to contribute. You will see the on-camera AF360 fire a flash, but this is part of the optical triggering. It wont actually fire during the exposure itself.

All the modes on the flash should work with the exception of TTL, which pre-dates the P-TTL protocol used on all modern Pentax cameras.

Too bad they didn't keep TTL, I use to like it for Macro work...
