Pentax flash guns or off brand

I'm just wondering which is better to use, a pentax brand name flash gun or an off brand? If you prefer off brand, do you have any specific names you stick too?

I have a off brand name flash gun and have been thinking about picking up a pentax flash but I'm having a hard time justifying spending so much money on a brand name flash.

Any opinions?

I will vouch for the sigma flashes. Has everything the 540 does, with just a little loss in power, and is much cheaper. Its been said the the Metz 48 and 58 are also good alternatives. good luck!
