Wil Soltron Nikon Flash work?

I apologise in advance if this is a dumb question.

I have dug up an old soltron flash AF888NIK for Nikon. I am a bit (a lot) hesitant to try it on the DS for fear it will blow up - the camera that is - and was wondering do hot shoe mounts differ for each particular brand?

Will a flash for a Nikon film camera work on the Pentax?

I have searched for an answer but didn't find any info.

Don't do it!!!!

You could seriously damage your camera, check the voltage, then check again.
Or, you can get these little devices that attach to the camera and the flash called Radio Slaves, you then use the flash off the camera thus no danger. This is a link for one such device, Gadget Infinity , I do not endorse these products nor do I have anything to do with them, you are on your own. Best of luck.
