More flash stuff

I might be missing something but...

The K20 plus the 360FGZ does not seem to do high-speed sync when the flash is on Manual power.

Can someone confirm that I am right or wrong?

when using the flash for fill I will use the camera in full manual mode (to ensure proper exposure of my subject) and I would like to regulate the amount of power coming out of the flash for fill. But when I flip the flash to M the shutter speed maxes out at 1/180. So you are forced to rely on some TTL magic to figure out proper fill power (which almost never works the way I want it).

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks...

Correct. It will not do HSS on manual or Auto flash, only on PTTL and only when connected to the camera via the hotshoe or Pentax 5 pin flash cord.

Move the flash off-camera and trigger with a wireless or PC sync cable. Put the camera in full manual. Put the flash in manual and set the power as required.
You can find lots of info on this if you search for "strobist".

Well, you'll find lots of info on some things if you search for "strobist". But it will still not do HSS in this configuration.

lol, ditto what matt said.

HSS cannot be done in manual flash mode, which has also been said.
