Metz 32CT3 safe?

Alright, so I got this metz 32CT3 flash (from a german guy for 8 bucks!! ). The thing is, it is said to have ~22 volts on fully charged batteries, and my measurement gave ~15v on used eneloops. I'm pretty sure that it is safe for my K10D, but just as a safety - what do you say? it seems to work okay in auto on the camera, though a couple of times it just did not fire - a press on the test button corrected that, but I'm worried.
Oh, and has anyone had any experience with it?

I've been using a Sunpak 522 with trigger voltage of 22V with my K10D, no problem yet.

Oh, that's cool then; I wonder why it's missing a flash sometimes...
