Sync problem with flashes on a K200D

Hi. I have a problem, and that is my flashes won't fire above 1/180(Sigma EF-500 DG) or 1/160 (a cheapo studio flash). It works perfectly until there but when I try to increase at 1/200 the camera works just like I didn't have the flash. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

I don't think that your doing anything wrong. It's a little different, however there's a similar thread on that subject going on here.

In my honest opinion it's as fast as you'll have to shoot 99% of the time.
However I'll e experimenting with faster speeds tomorrow, just for the fun of it.

From my experience, it just doesn't fire above the 180 unlike the film SLR types which will fire even if not in-sync.

That is the flash sync cap of the K series DSLRs (except for new K7).
I've read somewhere that they were able to make the flash fire above the flash sync cap..but then again, why would you want a half lighted photo or one with a black band in the middle?
180 is the top syncronization speed and anything above that just won't work.
