That is not good. If it lags at 1/180 sec, I would image how bad it would be for the other brands who's sync speed is at 1/250 sec or the Nikon D70s which can sync at 1/4000 sec.
I wonder if this is an isolated problem. Is it this noticeable if the image is not over exposed?

I think it is an isolated problem. It is actually as or even more noticeable at proper exposure.

My interest in the RF602 was the claim of being able to wake a flash. I was expecting the flash to behave the same way it would on the camera, falling asleep instead of powering down. It appears with the AF 360FGZ that the flash still knows it is off camera on the RF602 and powers off after three minutes. Has anyone been able to use the RF602 with the AF 360FGZ in a wake mode?

Thank you
Russell

I notice the listing saying "It can be used as wireless remote shutter release."

But it comes with a 3-pin connector, not the one used for Pentax (and some Canons).

Have you tested it as a wireless remote shutter release?
Playing around with them today, the remote shutter works fine. Half press for focus works, and holding the transmitter button down in bulb works as well.

I did get the right cable version with the unit I bought.

Thank you
Russell

I can only sync at 1/125 with the Metz 48 AF-1, Pentax 360FGZ, and Promaster Nikon 7000M on the K10D. I'm still using the battery in the package, however.

Thank you
Russell

I've been reading strobist for a while and now I'm thinking about getting this set. On dealexterme.com they are selling this Yongnuo RF-602 1transmitter+1receiver set fo $29.99(free shipping).

It's just called "Remote shutter switch" on dealextreme but I'm assuming it's the same and can be used as flash trigger also, or is there a version without the flash functions?

I was thinking about ordering two of these, that way I would have one spare transmitter for the same price as the ebay set mentioned earlier in this thread.

Would you (who have this set) recommend this as a first wireless flash trigger or is there something better for the price?

Ovim,

Just beware that DX can take a very long time to ship. They appear to wait for multiple orders on an item and then make bulk purchases to cover the orders, then ship. I don't think you'll have to worry too much about these though as they are so popular that DX is probably flooded with orders.

There is no separate one without the flash trigger, you just use it differently as a camera remote.

Nothing appears to be better for the price.

I've been looking into radio triggers lately. Am I correct that the RF602 is a better buy than the PT-04? This is what I'm referring to:
DealExtreme: $19.55 YongNuo Wireless Remote Shutter Trigger for Canon 430/580 EX DSLR Digital Camera

I have a Metz 48. I see that one guy had issues with the sync speed, but that may go away by swapping batteries?

There is a flickr group with many threads on this flash trigger all the comments on the RF-602 have been completely positive.

mine arrived today. got a set of 3 rx. there was some misfires with them side by side on the default channel, so i changed it and so far no more errors.

the build quality seems great. i'll do a sync test tonight or tomorrow.

With all new batteries, only 1/125 sync possible with the RF-602 on the K10D and K20D. Metz 48 AF-1, Pentax 360FGZ, and Promaster Nikon 7000M tested. I also have a set of the PT-04M, note the M, and all flashes sync at 1/180 without issue on both bodies.

Thank you
Russell
