Beauty Dish for shoe mounted flashes?

Has anyone ever used one of these beauty dishes designed for shoe mounted flashes? I don't see any customer reviews anywhere. For $65 it doesn't seem like a bad deal.

I'm SO making one of those, Zav! A truly ingenious DIY design - easily made from common parts while not sacrificing any functionality.

Now, where to source an appropriate bowl...

(I have just started playing with shoot-through umbrellas and I find they spill light all over the place when used indoors - I'd like a bit more control but would rather not spend on softboxes and beauty dishes at the moment)

That ain't no damn beauty dish by any stretch of the imagination. Beauty dishes are reflectors 22"-30" in diameter.

Chill out. It's still a beauty dish because of the way it diffuses the light.

Ok, I'm chilled......it still isn't a "beauty dish"...its a 6" diffuser for a hotshoe flash; its not beautiful light.

With no judgment on whether this device is any good or not, I know I couldn't collect all of the parts needed for the DIY version and assemble them nicely in $65 worth of my time.... especially my scarce spare time.....

Ah, but see, some of us enjoy making stuff in our spare time (well, I do anyways )

Did you see the part where it is 14 inches, not six?

Interfit also makes a mini Beauty dish. This one is in two parts, the dish, $30 and the flash head adapter, $8.

As cool as that DIY dish looks, I'm not sure if I'd get around to building it.

Since no one has tried the beauty dish I mentioned, in theory, would this dish have any noticeable advantage over my Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce diffuser for portraits?

True, but the OP's link was to a 6" reflector on Ebay. However, the DIY link is a 14," which is pretty nifty.
