Flash for my K200?

HI all.
I have a Pentax K200 and last night while out taking shots of the Stock car racing it became apparent my standard flash is not up to it. Not being aware of what flash I can get to add on to my camera via the hot shoe connection (think thats what its called).
So can someone please advise me what basic price model flash type I can get for this camera, as dont get the wrong type and dammage it.
Regards Andy

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.
I would suggest you read this: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/photography-articles/23109-comparing-curr...h-options.html, which is written by our resident flash expert , Matt (Pentax P-TTL Flash Comparison: The Definitive Guide).

You might look at a Vivitar Series 1 df-383-pen I picked one up for around $130 It is my first flash unit, so I can't compare it fully to others, but it seems to work well for the money. It does p-ttl as well as full manual settings and has both swivel and tilt, which all but the most expensive Pentax models lack. I intend to eventually use it off camera as my skill grows.
