K2000(k-m) and Old Flash

Anyone have any experience using old flashes with their k2000? I'm looking at purchasing an old Metz Mecablitz which this site, Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages , says the trigger voltage is 22v. The seller tested his flash and got 15v. I should be okay using this on my k2000 right?

I don't think anyone will give you the definite answer. The trigger voltage thingy is as clear as... mud

I've been using a Metz CT45-4 (24V trigger voltage) and a Metz CT45-1 (22V trigger voltage) with my K10D bodies for a while now. I haven't noticed any problem. So IMHO, 15V is OK.

But my advice here is worth exactly how much you pay for it

Yea, I know I'll never get a definite answer because there probably isn't one as long as Pentax doesn't clear this issue up. I was just hoping to have other k2000 users chime in with their experience with old flashes.

It seems most people have the same experience as you. I actually haven't seen anyone with a problem yet. I'm guessing that from one model to the next in the last few years most cameras would work similarly with the same trigger voltage.

Thanks, I appreciate your input.

The problem with using a flash with a trigger voltage of that size is that it stresses the cameras electronics. Over time, it has the potential to cause premature failure of the cameras electronics. You will not notice any problem until you do, up to that point everything will be just fine. I personnally stay below 6v for a trigger voltage based on my own comfort zone so would us a flash trigger method that protects the camera.

One option is to purchase the Wein safety sync

Good luck

I forgot to mention that the manual of my Ricoh GX200 specifically says the trigger voltage should be "no more than 20V."
