Morris Slave Flashes

I am photgraphing small items--coins, rings and other smaller items found while out metal detecting. The photos will be taken with a Pentax ZX30 and a F28-80 lens or a F35-70 lens, on a small tripod, with some red or blue,or tan( depending on the item) colored fabric as background.

Has anyone used the Morris Slave flash units for a bit if fill in lighting for small tabletop photgraphy???

Or should I get 1 or 2 small halogen lights???

I would like to spend less than $100.---if possible.

Any suggestions????

Hello Dimeman,
I`ve used the Morris units for small studio set-ups, it was good to have a flash meter for exposure(used film then),you should have consistent exposure with the slaves.
You might want to control your light direction by using some shields/barn doors or grids but with a bit of experimenting I`m sure you`ll get good results. I used an umbrella set-up with 2 slaves.... worked quite well & cost was well under $100.
You may want to get a lens that will close focus/macro,I used my 50mm with a bellows for real small objects.
Hope you have fun with this..... Good luck!
