Can the k100d be used with the Sunpak MZ-440AF TTL Shoe Mount Flash? I know the k100d has p-ttl flash technology and that is a ttl flash.

Is it just a waste of money or it's better than the onboard flash? I'm also looking for a sigma ef-500 dg st or super but since they're are just over $100 (the st version) I have to pay VAT and custom duties which bounce the price quite a bit ($30 only for fees, +19% custom duties and on top of that 20% VAT

).

You can use it if you don't mind the fact that the TTL function will be useless. (The K100D has no TTL capability; only P-TTL, and they are not the same). You will have to calculate aperture based on guide number and distance. Fortunately, with a digital camera it doesn't cost anything to experiment, check the instant review, and make adjustments as necessary.

Does this flash have an auto mode, i.e. the flash itself meters the scene?
