AF160FC + wireless AF360FGZ with K10D

Hi,

I've got a K10D and I'm trying to use an AF160FC on camera and an AF360FGZ wirelessly. I'm not managing to get the 360 to flash at all!

I have successfully used the 360 wirelessly with the built in flash but this is being a bit more tricky to set up.

I'm using a DA lens so shouldn't be limited on functionality by that. Anyone got any pointers for how to get this going? A step by step would be ideal. I've had a look around but can't find anything specific to this setup.

double check your manual, but I don't think the AF160 can be a wireless master/control flash. You need another 360 or 540 for that. Alternately you could try putting the 360 in manual mode, and use and inexpensive optical slave to fire it.

You probably have a good reason to why you want to control the 360 with the 160 but I don't really see it.
If you can set the 160 to a manual mode, skipping the P-TTL entirely, you can set the 360 as a normal optical slave. This is done by holding down the light button for a few seconds and setting it on a different mode than it is already on (1 or 2). This will enable the 360 to flash when there is another flash going off that it can see.
This will not trigger the P-TTL function and you will have to set the flash strength manually.

Thanks for this, I'll give it a go.

The aim of this is to get a background fill light when doing macro shots where the foreground and background are a couple of meters apart.
